Retail Sales: The Cost of a “Nice” Salesperson: 7%

Beware, there’s a new character in retail…

I call them PN for Prince (or Princess) Nice.

PNs start off by telling customers, “Here’s whats on sale.” Which reads, “I think we’re overpriced so I’m being nice to show you the cheap stuff.” No mention of  what is new or different.

The Worst Thing To Hear From An Employee

Where were you when it last happened? At home watching TV? Attending a family birthday party? On vacation with a drink in one hand and enjoying a relaxing tropical paradise …

The fear starts when the phone rings and your caller ID shows it is your business.  You are snapped out of pleasant feelings into the “fight or flight” mode so you answer, “What’s wrong?”

Mobile Apps: A Sign Of How Far The Retail Experience Has Fallen

The Wall Street Journal recently ran a story, Mobile Apps Draw in Shoppers, Marketers. In it were highlighted successes such as this, “On the Monday after Thanksgiving, for example, Shopkick offered triple the regular number of reward points to its users at one retailer and found a 68% increase from the previous day in people using the app in participating stores.”

Just more checkins is a success?
